North Pawnee Launch Site

The North Pawnee Site has a 20,000 ft AGL waiver and can accommodate all motors certified by NAR or TRA.

Driving is only permitted on marked roads in the National Grassland.  Dogs, cats, llamas, and other domestic pets are not allowed at NCR Launches (even if they are leashed and trained to not spit).

The following directions will get you to the Pawnee - North launch site in the Pawnee National Grasslands:

  1. From I-25, proceed east on Colorado Highway 14 to Ault.
  2. Turn left (north) on US Highway 85 and drive through Pierce and Nunn.
  3. 11.2 miles north of Nunn, turn right on the Grover Road - County Road 122 (crossing over the rust-red bridge just to the east of Highway 85).
  4. Drive 8 miles east on Rd 122 and turn left (north) on Rd 45 Continue on Rd 45 for 1 mile.
  5. Launch site is 100 yds off the right side of the road.
  6. Park just off the road, forming a single line of vehicles.

Map Coordinates: N 40° 53' 0" W 104° 38' 0"
Aeronautical Reference: 2 nautical mile radius from the Gill VOR (GLL) 338deg. radial at 22 nautical miles.
